Sodium-ion batteries enter the GWh-scale delivery phase: a new track and fresh challenges for PACK manufacturers.
2026 is widely regarded as the first year of large-scale commercialization of sodium batteries in the industry. After shipments reached 9GWh in 2025, the sodium electricity industry is experiencing a key leap from demonstration projects to large-scale delivery.

The advantages of sodium battery are clear. Compared with lithium batteries, sodium batteries have good characteristics of wide temperature and low temperature, and the low temperature performance can cover-40℃ to 80℃. Changde Kunyu's polyanion system sodium ion battery has achieved stable operation at minus 40℃ to 60℃, low temperature-40℃ discharge capacity retention rate greater than or equal to 90%, normal temperature cycle life greater than or equal to 12000 times. These performance indicators mean that sodium batteries have real potential for replacement in scenarios such as energy storage, two-wheeler, low-and medium-endurance new energy vehicles, and UPS.

The BMS strategy, thermal management scheme and structural design of sodium electricity are different from lithium electricity. The voltage platform of sodium battery is between 2.8 and 3.7V, which is different from that of lithium battery 3.0 to 3.7V; The positive and negative electrode materials are switched from ternary and lithium iron phosphate to polyanion type and layered oxide type, the fluid collection is switched from copper foil to aluminum foil. These changes require the PACK factory to re-match at the system level.
