What Are the Battery Standards in China?
With the rapid development of battery technology and its wide application in new energy vehicles, energy storage systems, consumer electronics and other fields, the safety, performance and reliability of batteries have been paid more and more attention. In order to ensure the quality and safety of battery products, China has formulated a series of national and industry standards related to batteries. These standards cover the design, manufacture, testing, safety performance, environmental protection and other aspects of the battery. This article will systematically introduce the main battery standards in China and help readers understand the composition and content points of China's battery standard system.
I. Classification of battery standards
china's battery standards are mainly divided into the following categories:
-
national Standard (GB)
issued by the State Administration of market supervision and administration and the State Standardization Management Committee, it is applicable to battery products and related technologies nationwide. -
Industry standards (NB/T, YD/T, etc.)
it is formulated by relevant industry authorities, aiming at the Battery Application characteristics of specific industries, such as new energy vehicle use a battery, communication base station use a battery, etc. -
Local standards and enterprise standards
some local governments and enterprises will also formulate corresponding standards in order to meet specific needs, but their scope of application is relatively small.
this article focuses on the introduction of national standards and some important industry standards.
II. National standards
1. GB/T 31485-2015 safety requirements and test methods of power batteries for electric vehicles
this standard specifies the safety requirements and testing methods of batteries under normal and abnormal conditions for the safety performance of electric vehicle power batteries. Including overcharge, overdischarge, short circuit, collision, acupuncture, vibration and other tests to ensure the safety of the battery during the use of the car.
2. GB/T 18287-2013 safety requirements for lithium ion batteries and battery packs
this standard is applicable to portable, power and energy storage lithium ion batteries, covering the design safety requirements and laboratory testing methods of batteries. The content includes mechanical, environmental and electrical safety tests of batteries to ensure the safety and reliability of batteries in various application scenarios.
3.GB 31241-2014 safety requirements for lithium-ion batteries for portable electronic equipment
4. GB/T 8897.1-2018 safety requirements for portable secondary lithium batteries of batteries and storage batteries
this standard specifies the safety performance testing methods of portable secondary lithium batteries, including high temperature, short circuit, overcharge, acupuncture and other tests, which are widely applicable to the safety testing of portable batteries.
5. GB/T 31486-2015 safety requirements for power lithium ion battery pack for electric vehicles
this standard aims at the safety performance of power lithium ion battery pack for electric vehicles, and regulates the safety testing methods of battery packs under the conditions of collision, extrusion, puncture, heat abuse, etc., so as to ensure the safety of electric vehicles.
III. Industry standards
1. NB/T 33004-2013 "performance requirements and test methods of lithium ion power battery package and system for electric vehicles"
released by China's new energy automobile industry, it specifies in detail the lithium-ion power battery pack and the performance index of the system. And test requirements, covering battery pack structural design, electrical performance and safety testing, etc.
2. NB/T 32004-2015 safety requirements for lithium-ion power battery packages and systems for electric vehicles
this standard emphasizes the power battery pack and the safety of the system in the whole vehicle, and specifies the protection requirements of the battery system for mechanical shock, short circuit, overcharge and other abnormal situations.
3. YD/T 2345-2011 technical conditions for lead-acid batteries for communication power supply
according to the technical specifications of lead-acid batteries used in the communication industry, performance indexes, test methods and safety requirements are specified to ensure the safety and stability of the power supply of communication equipment.
4. NB/T 51008-2014 "general technical conditions of battery for telecommunication engineering"
the battery standard used in telecommunication engineering covers the performance test and safety requirements of lithium batteries and lead-acid batteries to ensure the power supply safety of communication infrastructure.
IV. Battery test standards
1. GB/T 31467.3-2015 electrochemical performance test of lithium ion battery and battery pack
this standard specifies the testing methods of electrochemical performance such as capacity, cycle life and self-discharge rate of lithium ion batteries, which is an important basis for evaluating the performance of lithium batteries.
2. GB/T 35590-2017 power battery pack and system safety test methods
focus on power battery pack and system safety testing, including mechanical, thermal abuse, electrical abuse and other testing methods to ensure the safety of power battery systems under extreme conditions.
3. GB/T 31484-2015 "performance test method of power lithium ion battery thermal management system for electric vehicles"
this standard specifies the performance test method for the thermal management system of power lithium batteries to ensure the effectiveness of temperature control during the operation of batteries and prevent safety problems caused by overheating.
V. Standards related to environmental protection and recycling
as a special chemical, the Environmental Protection treatment after being abandoned is particularly important. China has formulated relevant standards to promote battery recycling and environmental protection.
1. GB/T 38843-2020 technical specification for recycling of waste power batteries
according to the recycling, storage and treatment process of waste power batteries, the safety operation and environmental protection requirements are standardized, and green recycling is promoted.
2. GB/T 38104-2019 technical specification for lithium ion battery recycling
this standard covers the dismantling, material recycling and processing technologies of lithium ion batteries, ensuring the safety of the recycling process and maximizing the utilization of resources.
VI. Charging equipment and management standards
battery charging equipment and management system standards also play a key role in battery safety performance.
the safety performance and interface standard of electric vehicle charging system are standardized to ensure the safety and interoperability of charging process.
2. GB/T 27930-2011 General technical conditions of power battery management system for electric vehicles
the performance requirements and test methods of power battery management system (BMS) are stipulated to ensure the safety monitoring and management of battery pack during charging and discharging.
China's battery standard system covers every link from battery design, safety performance, performance testing, environmental protection recycling to charging management, forming a relatively perfect standard framework. These standards not only guarantee the quality and safety of battery products, but also promote the healthy development of related industries. Mastering and complying with these standards is of great significance to battery manufacturing enterprises, application enterprises and regulatory agencies, and is helpful to enhance product competitiveness and user safety.
